What’s Up with the Board – February 2022

President Vivian Preston Sellers called the Board of Trustees monthly meeting to order on February 8, 2022.

We appointed Iva to be President of the Board for the 2022-2023 program year! Following the UUFA by-laws, we will submit her name to the Nominating Committee to be on the slate to be voted on at the Annual Meeting.

With input from Gathering Anew task force members Clela and Sarah, we voted to unpause the Omicron pause as of February 15. Returning to Phase I, the Fellowship will have up to 15 people presenting services live from the sanctuary and can have members reserve space for meetings of up to 15 in the sanctuary, AWE room and Fellowship Hall. For details see the phases chart.

With UUFA membership now topping 250, we will have six delegates to the 2022 General Assembly. Karen informed us that Social Action Committee will use funds from its budget for stipends for the delegates. If you’d like to volunteer to be a delegate, please let Vivian know.

Adoption of the 8th Principle will be a focus of GA. We voted to give Board support to the Congregational Adoption of the 8th Principle: “We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.” There will be further discussions of this principle prior to a vote at the Congregational Meeting in May.

Robert discussed the review of the Fellowship’s bylaws. We will continue the discussion at the March Board meeting. We also went through more of our policies. Unless March surprises us, we should complete that process begun in September 2021.

We learned that the new UUFA website is scheduled to go live, likely the week of February 15. As the shift is being made, we can expect a brief time without access to the website.
