You help realize the Fellowship’s shared mission and vision when you volunteer gifts of time, talent, or treasure. Financial support includes annual pledging, undesignated donations in the offering plate, and participating in FUNdraising. These and several other options are outlined below.
Members and friends can pledge during the Annual Budget Drive in February and March to support the Fellowship’s upcoming program year which runs from July 1 through June 30.
An effective religious and spiritual organization like the Fellowship exists only through the generosity of its members and friends. UUFA can operate at the highest possible level only by knowing what financial resources it can expect over the course of the program year.
Contributions towards a pledge may be made securely online by clicking here or by mail to UUFA, 780 Timothy Rd., Athens, GA 30606. Rather than waiting for the Annual Budget Drive, newcomers can make a first pledge at any time by email, paper form, or securely online. Have questions? Contact our Congregational Administrator (706-546-7914, ext. 5).
Your pledge should be based on your personal circumstances. No matter what amount you are able to give, please know every penny counts, and every penny is gratefully received.
The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Fair Share Giving Guide suggests your congregation receive between 2 to 10 percent of your net income, beginning at the lower end and increasing it as your commitment and means grow.
Each Sunday, UUFA “Shares the Plate” by splitting the undesignated offering with a designated Cause of the Month, a local Athens organization or one affiliated with Unitarian Universalism (UU) that has been chosen by UUFA members. You can find this year’s causes and more about the process of choosing them on the Justice page here.
UUFA welcomes gifts of stocks and bonds, whether as part of your annual pledge or as an additional gift. Our national denomination provides an Umbrella Giving Program that provides stock and securities transfer services. Click here for more information and to begin the process. Members may also direct their brokerage firm to transfer donated assets to UUFA’s brokerage account after checking with the Treasurer.Â
Giving to the Endowment Fund is a form of stewardship for the future. It is a way to support UUFA by making a “deferred gift” out of your estate, for example, the assets you have accumulated during your lifetime (savings, investments, real estate, retirement plan benefits, life insurance policies, tangible personal property), rather than by giving from annual income. These gifts may be designated as memorial gifts.
