Our Whole Lives (OWL)

What is the OWL program about?

Our Whole Lives is a series of sexuality education curricula, covering ages K-1 through adult.  Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives not only provides facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.

The curriculum for Our Whole Lives was developed by UUA in cooperation with the United Church of Christ. It is based on guidelines established by a national council of health, education, and sexuality professionals.

For general information about the program and curricula, see uua.org/re/owl  and uua.org/re/owl/faq .

What OWL programs are offered through UUFA?

Courses

Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education K-1 Program is a comprehensive and inclusive curriculum that helps children ages five through seven begin the lifelong process of acquiring information and forming attitudes and values about identity, relationships, safety and health. OWL affirms that parents are their children’s primary sexuality educators. As such, parents receive HomeLinks after every session. These offer a workshop summary, at-home conversation starters and activities, and suggestions that foster future conversations.

Help with Food Insecurity through June CANtributions

Please continue to bring non-perishable food items to Fellowship Hall’s wicker baskets. While all CANtributions are appreciated, in June the Athens Area Emergency Food Bank is especially in need of cold breakfast cereals as well as dry pasta (spaghetti is the favorite) and saltine crackers. To give by credit card, visit uuathensga.org/give and look for “Charitable Giving.” To give by check, make the check out to UUFA and put “CANtributions 1-8016” in the memo line. To learn more, contact justice@uuathensga.org. If you are experiencing food insecurity or know someone in our UUFA community who is, please contact Rev. Pippin (revpippin@uuathensga.org).
