Our November 28 meeting will be a pivotal conversation in the life of the Interfaith Sanctuary Coalition. We will recall why we began, celebrate the work we have done, and plan for the future. Joel’s dear mother-in-law has been dealing with Alzheimer’s and will be living with Joel and Carter, requiring much love and care. Consequently, Joel will be stepping down as chair of ISC and as liaison to AIRC. Some of the questions we’ll discuss include
Should the ISC continue?
If so, does our mission remain responding to requests from AIRC and other immigrant/refugee organizations (e.g., support of specific needs of families – SIFIC, Jubilee, Bethany; involvement with festivals – DIA; political activism including rallies, contactin
g government officials, advocating at Mayor and Commission meetings, etc. – DIA)? Should our mission be broader? More focused?
If we continue, in what format should ISC operate? Continue monthly meetings? Operate as a kind of “rapid response team” over email in response to specific needs from DIA, AIRC, and SIFIC?
If we continue, who will take over the leadership? One person? Several people filling different roles?
Where: The Healing Lodge at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital
When: Tuesday November 28, 6:00-8:00
Plan: Bring a dish to share. We’ll have a cozy fire and make wise decisions.
