Spiritual Practices & Artistic Expressions
Members and friends of UUFA express themselves in many ways: through drama, poetry, prose, dance, handcrafts, photography, painting, and other forms of artistry.
Welcome Hall Art Gallery
Artwork is displayed in the Welcome Hall at UUFA on a rotating basis. Contact UUFA members Janet & Mark Hodges through the Office (email@example.com or 706-546-7914) if you would like to display your creative expressions.
Writing as a Spiritual Practice
Writing as Spiritual Practice, facilitated by Myrna Adams West, currently meets on the first Sunday of the month at 9:00 am via Zoom to explore the monthly worship theme through various written genres. Myrna will provide prompts for thinking and/or writing about the theme and the group will provide safe space for sharing written or spoken thoughts. For more information, visit the Writing as Spiritual Practice page. To be added to the email list, contact Myrna at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the third Sunday of the month in the Universe/Youth Room experience singing as a spiritual practice. We will sing simple chants and let the sounds linger into silence. No musical experience or talent is required. Find your voice and explore the joys of singing together. To be added to the list, e-mail Amber Fetner, email@example.com.
Dance as a Spiritual Practice
Join Leigh Harvey as we channel creativity to apply movement to some of our hymns and chants.
In the spirit of ancient Athens and its contribution to modern religious celebration and artistry, UUFA occasionally includes short dramatizations during worship services. If you enjoy acting and would like to share your dramatic gifts, please inform Rev. Lisa Schwartz (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Kelli McConnell, Dir. of Religious Exploration (email@example.com) of your interest.
For more information about the many ways music finds expression at UUFA, please go to the Music Ministry webpage.
If you have an idea for a new way members and friends of UUFA can creatively express themselves and share their gifts with the community, please inform one of the Lay Ministers.
