Accessibility and Safety Info

We welcome and affirm people of all abilities. We have taken the following steps to ensure that no one is excluded from full participation in the life of our church.

Mobility

Our sanctuary, common areas, religious education classrooms, and two designated restrooms near the sanctuary are accessible to those using wheelchairs or having limited mobility. You can view floorplan maps inside the front doors and other entrances. The main parking area off Rambling Road provides accessible parking spaces.

Sight

Large print hymnals and orders of service (bulletins) are always available. Hymn lyrics and readings are also displayed on large video monitors in the Sanctuary. We also have a braille hymnal. Please ask any usher for assistance. If you would like an orientation tour of the facility during the week, contact the church office to make arrangements.

Protecting and Nurturing Our Children

If you want your child to participate in the religious education program and feel that they may require special accommodations due to learning disabilities or behavioral issues, please contact the Director of Religious Exploration  in advance so the best possible arrangements can be made.

Please find our safe congregation policy “Honoring the Children and Youth” here.

Hearing

UUFA provides signing for some services and upon request. Please contact the office for more information. Service attendees can also request hearing-impaired devices from the ushers.

Pastoral Care and Those with Disabilities

We provide pastoral care to all members. To build this loving community, ministers receive special training to assist those who may feel unwelcome, patronized or marginalized. Our ministers may not be able to remedy fully every situation, but they can provide a compassionate ear and a willingness to enlist the help of others. If you need to share a challenge you have, have a hidden disability that you think someone knowing about is important, please contact a minister to share your information in confidence.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcomed. We have grassy areas where service animals may relieve themselves, but remind you to help us to keep the grounds clean and friendly for all. If you have any questions not answered or concerns not addressed, please contact the church office to seek further information.

Safe Congregation Plan

UUFA has created a Safe Congregation Plan for the on-going safety and security of all at UUFA. For more information contact Safety and Security.

AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) on site

An AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) has been hung on the wall to the left of the Eskildsen Room. While there will be a list of those trained on the AED, it is widely accepted that anyone can follow the instructions for the AED. If you want to self train on our AED, please watch the video below. When you have seen the video, please contact the Administrator to let her know you have seen the video. It is an awareness of the use of an AED, which is widely available throughout the community.
