We Welcome Diversity
In 1996 UUFA voted to be a Welcoming Congregation.
We held three series of workshops on GLBTQ issues, using UUA materials, changed the language we were using in services and materials, and met all other standards of UUA for becoming an official Welcoming Congregation. This designation affirms we welcome and respect all people, no matter whom you love or what your gender identity or expression. Straight, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer or Questioning people are invited to participate in all aspects of congregational life. UUFA participates in Gay Pride weekends, parades, and hosts occasional activities for the GLBTQ community in Athens. Click here for details on the national UUA effort.
UUFA participates in the Side with Love campaign, which supports ethical, respectful treatment of all people no matter what their country of origin, religion, customs, or language. We advocate for equal treatment and respect of all people.

At present, UUFA is renewing its Welcoming Congregation status by completing the five practices of Welcome Renewal.
