What’s Up with the Board – July 2021

President Vivian Preston Sellers welcomed new and returning Board members to our July 13 meeting, the first of the 2021-2022 program year.

We started by happily affirming Iva King as Vice President. In addition, we appointed Thrane Jensen as Assistant Treasurer to work with Treasurer Lyndall Tunnell on the Finance Committee. Lyndall confirmed that a new copier has been ordered which will be important to teams and committees once we are able to regather at the Fellowship.

In more communications news, we learned that Rosemary Wood has edited the July Tapestry, returning it to its 2013 format. The issue will be mailed to members who don’t click the online link. With funding from the Board, a Communications Team subcommittee (Mark Williams, Shaye Gambrell and Susan Curtis) is working with Blue Lights Lab to create a new UUFA website with a target date of late August. Our outdoor communications will have a new look in August: we voted to accept a bid presented by Iva for 44 Signs to construct an entry sign visible from both directions of Timothy Road.

Bob Teskey volunteered to serve on the Settled Minister Search Negotiation Team. The Board will name one other person from Fellowship membership. The third team member will be selected by Search Committee from its group.

Clela Reed and Sarah Cook reported that the Regathering Task Force is in a wait-and-see mode on further re-opening given the recent upward trend in local COVID-19 infections and the need to receive input from the Medical Advisory Panel. The level of vaccinations among UUFA members may suggest an upward adjustment of numbers of attendees in a given phase.

Please plan on joining Board members for the July 25 virtual Sunday service when we’ll be welcoming everyone to the new program year.
