November 29 Forum: Ask Morgan Anything: In the LGBTQIA+/TGQNB Ballpark

A note from Morgan:

This UUFA Forum is the CRITICAL FINAL PILLAR of the UUFA renewing our Welcoming Congregation commitment, and we need it to be both SUPER WELL ATTENDED and have the attendees fill out a survey afterwards.

We are striving for at least 10% of the congregation to attend and fill out the survey to complete this process.

The 9:30 a.m. Forum on the November 29 will be an “Ask Morgan Anything” session, as I seek to answer common (and even uncommon) questions about the LGBTQIA+ community, what all those letters mean, what the differences between different kinds of attraction are, and mean, why letters keep being added, why the word Queer is being used more and more, but is still not a universally accepted one-syllable alternative to LGBTQIA+, etc etc. I am SURE that the so-far suggested questions and my own ideas for topics to cover won’t adequately cover everything that Should Be Covered.

If you can think of questions that NEED to be answered in this kind of Forum, things that are often misunderstood or misconstrued, etc., please feel free to let me know, so I can cover things that wouldn’t be on my radar otherwise! And if you want to be present during this AMA, just click on the link for “Forum” at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 29.

In the 1980s and 90s, when the word welcoming became a code word for accepting lesbian, gay, and bisexual people, the Unitarian Universalist Association launched a Welcoming Congregation Program to help learn how to undo homophobia—and later, transphobia (prejudice against transgender people). Join Welcoming Congregation Renewal Team member Morgan Henry as she answers questions and invites discussion about the expanded alphabet of the Welcoming Congregation Program–LGBTQIA+/TGQNB–and shares where UUFA is in the renewal process.

You are invited to help shape the discussion by emailing Morgan to submit your questions ahead of time.
