Join the community kickoff to end the money bail system, which keeps people in jail, pre-trial, for weeks and even years—away from their families, friends and communities—before they see a judge and which traps people in debt, can mean a loss of custody of children, stable housing, employment, and more.
The money bail system relies on dangerous and often biased presumptions about Black folks, People of Color, and poor people who have been accused of breaking laws and serves only to criminalize the poor and decimate families and communities.
Congregations and communities are invited to join BLUU for a webinar: Click here to view the webinar hosted by Black Lives of UU (BLUU) “End Money Bail 2020 Community Kick-Off” on Wednesday, October 23 at 5 pm PT/7 pm CT/8 PM ET.
