Building Renovation Update: Rain, Rain, Go Away!!!

Work on framing the new addition has been slowed by the very heavy rains over the last few days.  The new slab flooded with a couple of inches of water, and the water ran inside underneath the temporary walls in the Fellowship Hall and old Foyer.  Intrepid members of the UUFA Choir and Palms of Fire pitched in Wednesday evening to help the CloverLeaf Project Manager mop up the flooding inside our building and attempt to push the water off the slab!

At the same time, a roof leak has developed in the kitchen near the stove and door to the RE hall.  Please be careful in the kitchen this weekend!!! This leak is probably not due to the renovation project but the result of maintenance issues with our existing roof.  Nevertheless, CloverLeaf has been extremely helpful in trying to mop up this mess, and will have a roofer to assess the problem in the next few days if the rain lets up.

The rain has also put a temporary stop to grading for the new parking lot off of Cheatham Road.

In spite of the rain, the framing continues in the new addition as well as in the new bathrooms to be located in the old administrative office.  Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical (heating & air) rough-ins and inspections are scheduled next week.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the next 6-10 days calls for above average rainfall!
